Eriksoln is the hero of the war in my Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting. His story is too long to put here. In short, he was a leader of a small band of adventurers who turned the tides of the war. He was not the most powerful toe-to-toe fighter nor did he have any abilities that other people didn't possess. What he did have is the leadership skills to make a group of people who otherwise wouldn't have gotten along work together for a common goal.
He also possessed the courage to face his destiny despite the fact that he knew it would kill him. He saw himself as a piece of a puzzle, not as a hero.
